Booking appointments is always easy through their online portal, and the staff are consistently friendly and easy to work with. I’m not a car expert, but what I really appreciate is how communicative they are. After each visit, they send a clear digital summary of what was inspected, what’s considered normal, where your car falls, and how urgent any recommended maintenance might be. They also include estimated costs, so you have a full picture before deciding on anything. I’ve never felt pressured to approve services, and whenever I’ve had questions, the team has taken the time to walk me through everything. They also occasionally offer online deals or AAA discounts, which is a nice bonus if the timing works out. Pricing may be slightly higher than some other spots, but I personally think it’s worth it for the convenience and transparency. Everything is fully digital — from booking and check-in to inspection reports and final billing — which gives me peace of mind knowing my car’s full history is easy to access and not buried in paperwork. Most recently, I came in for a SMOG check, and the experience was fast and seamless. I had an appointment, pulled up, and a technician met me at my car with an iPad for check-in. I handed over my keys, waited briefly, and about 15 minutes later my car was ready. I checked out, received my results (already sent to the DMV), and was on my way. This is the only place I take my car for repair. Ray and the staff are so knowledgeable and professional. I love that they send you a link to a report showing what needs to be done with photos and a detailed explanation in a way I can understand. They always work within my scheduling needs to get it done on time. I highly recommend Santa Monica Motors for all your automotive repairs and for smog tests as well.

We did not know what to expect when AAA sent us there. Bob met us in our car and gave us a quick review of what to expect. Bob is an exceptional man with whom to work. He is clear and informative. The service was quickly done. We highly recommend this place for getting the smog test etc. done!! And we especially recommend Bob for explaining all details.

I’ve been to Santa Monica Motors twice for smog checks. Both times, they were incredibly kind, professional, and efficient! They completed the smog check within 20 mins and had a nice space to sit in while I waited. They’re also in a really walkable area if you want to take a stroll while you wait. I highly recommend them!
