I came in to Santa Monica Motors/Santa Monica Smog test to do a pre smog check inspection. On the phone they told me that the inspection would be $120 and then an additional $69 for the smog test (at Santa Monica Smog test, it's the same place). They also mentioned that they offer a shuttle service to take me home. They were very nice when I got there, and after giving them my information, I was told that the inspection would be just $70. Thinking I just saved $50 already made me happy. I waited about 25 minutes for the shuttle driver and got a ride to my house (also in Santa Monica). After 2 hours I received a phone call saying that there weren't any problems, they took my car through the smog test (and it passed) and the whole charge was $69. So bassicaly, they inspected the car, fixed what was neccesary (I know for sure that the idle had to be adjusted), they only charged me for the test itself, and also gave me a ride back to the shop. I couldn't possibly ask for more.

I have to agree with the majority of the other reviews here: this place is good. Fast, polite, and $10 off with or without the coupon if you mention Yelp ~ AND you can go to Lazy Daisy cafe just up the street to have a coffee or something while you wait!

Had to get smogged for my latest car registration, and being a loyal customer of SM Motors next door (same owner), it was a no brainer to get it done here. Everything went smoothly as expected -- Bob was very helpful and explained everything clearly. It came out to about $60 after the coupon.

Quick and painless. Found the coupon on yelp - went there first thing in the morning and was out in 20 min. Super friendly, helpful, and affordable. Thank you for your help!!

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Don and the Santa Monica Motors team after I brought in my 2001 Toyota 4Runner for it's 95k mile check up. Here are a few highlights:1. Amazing that they take online weekday reservations2. They have an after-hours drop box so I could drop my car off before they opened3. They kept me in the loop on progress4. They made a prioritized list of what I needed done and were very transparent on what needed to be done now, later, and at what different price tiers5. They came and picked me up when it was done!The best mechanic experience I've ever had.
