I've brought my car here a couple of times, and haven't had a bad experience yet. Everyone there is polite, thorough, and friendly; definitely not stereotypical pushy salesmen. The people in the front office do a good job of keeping me in the loop when my car is in for service, and turnaround times are reasonable.I drive an older car with its fair share of small problems and flaws. I don't want a perfect car, I want a reliable and functional car. The folks at Santa Monica Motors get that. If they recommend that I fix something or alert me to a potential problem, it's something important. They're also good about prioritizing repairs; if something can wait a while, they'll tell you. Service costs are reasonable, and the techs do a good job of ensuring that your money is well spent by tracking down problems to their sources before ordering parts to fix them.As other reviewers have mentioned, they can get busy. If you want your car back quickly, you should make an appointment.

Easy in, easy out! This may have been my least favorite errand to do this year, but this place made it fast and painless! The two guys working there on a Sunday were professional and friendly. Highly recommended!

This was my first smog test so I didn't really know what to expect. After I left the DMV I yelped places to get the smog test done and the app led me to SM Smog check and Star Station. The $10 discount with the Yelp check-in sold me on this place. Since a couple of people were sitting in front of the shop waiting, I was just hoping that I wasn't going to be there forever. I was reassured when the very nice man at the counter told me that the wait would be about 20-30 minutes and he was right on target. I was out of there within 30 minutes and it cost $59. I would definitely return here.
