I've had horrible experiences with auto shops and SaMo VW dealership in the past, so I'm always hesitant to get my car repaired in LA (I'm from OC and have been going to the same shop for 20 years). Really appreciate the quick inspection, regular updates, and got my car back the same day. I have a german car (VW GTI) and they only source parts from the manufacturer and VW. They also have a warranty on the parts I needed. The owner also helped reassure me that they would take care of me if anything were to happen to the parts under warranty and was super friendly. They were also fair on pricing and don't try to rip you off like many other shops. Will definitely return for any future work.

I was in the middle of registering my out-of-state vehicle at the DMV when I was told I needed a smog check. A quick yelp search led me down the street to this place, and the whole experience could not have been better. They took my car right away while I waited in the spacious and comfortable waiting room. About 15 minutes later, I was done. All of the employees I spoke with (shout-out to Josh) were very friendly and helpful. Bonus: I saved $10 by checking in on yelp and made it back to the DMV in time to finish the registration process.

Great service. Very efficient. The Mechanic gave me some advice on replacing my radiator and I did. Good thing because it was about to explode.

I've been going to Santa Monica Motors almost as long as they've been open. I don't know anything about how cars work, and it's been a big load off my mind to know that I can trust them to take good care of me and my car. All the staff members are knowledgeable and efficient--hi, Ray, and I can think of many times they've gone above and beyond the call of duty. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.

They all go above and beyond! Highly recommended. They've gotten me (legally!) through 3 difficult smog checks and multiple repairs.

Super quick service, nice waiting room, and they'll even process your DMV registration on site so you can drive away with your stickers. Probably not the cheapest place in town but it was so great to get in and out in under 15 minutes when I realized the day my registration renewal was due that I needed a smog check!

I don't do many reviews. When I do, the service/experience is either very good or very bad. My service today at Santa Monica Motors was awesome. If you need a smog check and you are anywhere close to the west side of Los Angeles, or even if you're not, this is the place to go. Before going, my wife called to find out if I needed an appointment. No one answered and she left a message. Within a few minutes, Bob returned her call and was very apologetic about not being available to answer the phone. He said no appointment was needed, but I should be there 30 minutes before closing. When I arrived, they took my car right away and I was done within 15 minutes. I met Bob, who was extremely nice. He informed me how I could get my vehicle registration renewed more quickly through my auto club. The cost for the smog check was around $60 with a $10 off coupon.
