My wife and I have never been to a more honest, ethical and competent auto repair/ smog check center. Smog checks are a breeze at Santa Monica Motors with no unnecessary costs added on like had experienced at other smog check shops in the past. Most recent, for example, I had the windshield wiper blade break off at a car wash. I looked up the parts on the internet for the wiper blade and "arm" and called Ray, who handles repair. I told him I looked up the parts for the blade and "arm" on the internet. He told me it would cost $220 approximately for both parts including installation. I said great, and made an appointment not wanting to wait until it rained. Today after waiting in the shop for about 8 minutes, he told me, "the job is done and it will only cost $24." He told me the "ARM" that the windshield washer blade attaches to was not damaged. I was ready to pay $220 on the spot, and he had the part in hand. However, he took the ethical approach putting the customer's well being first. I told Ray that "Santa Monica Motors" just raised the national average for honesty, competency and customer service. Most of us have had experiences where shops take advantage of customers. But what happened today at this smog and repair facility made reminded me of the many wonderful people out there working who never get the recognition they deserve for honesty, competence and care they deliver. The best car repair shop I've ever been to. Incredible service, friendly staff, great communication. It's not cheap but it's well worth the price. I actually enjoy taking my car in.

I've been taking our cars to these guys for years to get smog checks and they are great. Wonderful customer service and I'm always in and out quickly.

I drove in without an appointment, and was promptly met at my car and told I would be able to be in and out within 30 minutes. I went to pay, was offered a very comfortable indoor seat as it was cold and windy, was honored with a discount, and was out the door in about 20 minutes. A great service; a great experience.
