Waited to the last minute to smog my BMW...final day! Ugghh!! So grateful these guys are open on Saturdays. Drove by here hundreds of times as it's just down the street from Santa Monica College. Drove up not knowing what to expect. Saw a charming Chinese couple waiting on the outdoor patio. That alone gave me some confidence in this place. They have plenty of parking here and nobody dictating where you can and cannot park. Walked in, place is pretty clean and well-kept. Prices clearly displayed on the wall. The dude behind the counter was very polite and friendly. I suspected he was a mechanic when he wasn't holding down the front customer service area. Oh yeah, I took the guy's advice (I had called earlier to verify they were open) and printed out a $10 off coupon from their yelp page. They accepted it gladly, no disappointed looks, no exhales. lol He said it would be about 15 minutes or so. Cool~There's lots of places to eat around here. I took a walk while I waited, intending to buy a soft serve from Foster Freeze down the street but I ended up walking the wrong direction! haha~ oh well. :D When I got back the car was done! PASSED!! Yeah! They even have a window where you can pay your DMV registration right on the spot. I might use that next time. I'll definitely be back! Thanks Santa Monica Motors!

Came in after 5 and was out by 5:20. Very helpful and quick. I would come back and recommend this to anyone needing a smog check.

I took my 4-wheel drive Porsche here to get it smogged. I ended up going twice because I failed the first time because of a problem with the catalytic converters, which I had to have replaced. Don and his guys were great - they took my car in very fast, worked efficiently to get the car tested and completed (and explained) all the required paperwork. I've been directed to certain shops because I was told that many shops don't know how to handle smogging German cars - nothing could be farther from the truth at Santa Monica Motors! They were complete experts and professionals, and charged me a reduced price for the second test. Don was super friendly, reliable, and a great sense of humor.

The guys here were totally awesome. I'm so happy for all the yelp reviewers who helped me make the right decision to come here. I brought my 2007 Toyota Camry and my wife followed me with my daughter's 2004 RAV4. They got is in and out of there quickly. No muss, no fuss, and a great price for both cars. This is definitely a place to go in Santa Monica for smog checks.

They fixed an EVAP code on my car to get it to pass a smog check and even told me what steps to follow next to get my car registered in California. Very friendly staff, good service!
