Took my car into Santa Monica Motors yesterday. They took care of all the emergency things that needed to get fixed. They gave me a quote and when I arrived to pay it was $100 cheaper than my original quote. That felt good.

Utilizing the powers of Yelp, I found Santa Monica Motors. I have an older vehicle that I am trying to hold onto for 1-2 more years and solid maintenance and some much needed repairs was mandatory to ensure that.I don't even know where to begin. I was completely blown away by the service, customer service, and specifically Ray (I believe his last name is Hodrick and he is the service advisor there). I walked in expecting things to be at least decent (b/c of all of the raving Yelp reviews), but I had no idea that I would end up having the best auto repair experience of my car's 10+ year life.No joke - I didn't know car/auto service could be this amazing. They have 100% set the bar and gained a long-term customer.Why was I so blown away?- They were extremely efficient from the moment I dropped off my vehicle - They provide a shuttle service if you need it (from a super sweet and awesomely kind driver)- Ray. Dude someone go get this guy a trophy and/or a hug. He was the specific individual I worked with. He is an absolute professional and was so damn efficient and on point with everything! He set the tone for my entire experience there and is the specific reason why I will be going to their business for any future repairs that they can provide. He is an excellent at clearly communicating what needed to be done and even provided guidance for where I could go for repairs/services that they did not provide.- Its kind weird to say that, but the energy and vibe there immediately put me at ease. I felt like I was in good hands and was getting service from a business that I could trust.I can not thank this team enough for the experience I had here. You are incredible and I got to see first hand why you get such raving reviews. You absolute deserve it.

Don, sorry for the tardy response. good job so far on cooling system upgrade; unfortunately the road trip described below caused the the AC condensor leak to increase; probably need to consider that work with summer coming on. please send a quote. Ross

Bob is very professional and courteous, and he's one of the most mellow, collected people I've ever met. This station also does vehicle registration-for this it's best to call ahead for an appointment, but they'll take great care of you and get plates for your vehicle. We arrived around 8:30 AM, and the smog check on my girlfriend's 2012 VW Beetle took about 20 minutes after a short 10-minute wait. I think we paid $45. I highly recommend going here just to meet Bob. Great pit crew too, don't forget the guys under the hood-also friendly, professional, and efficient.

The reviews are true. Don and his team are skilled and accommodating. I've been there a few times now and every time I'm there it reminds me why I go back.Once I went in to have the brakes checked-I knew the rotors needed to be replaced. The estimate was pleasantly surprising because I had already had the brakes looked at by the dealer and they told me pretty much the same thing except they wanted to charge me 4x the amount.After I had the work done on the brakes they started making a funny noise so I took the car back without an appointment and Don and Ray got me in right away. They re-inspected he car and made a few adjustments and the noise was gone.I was skeptical and didn't believe them at first that everything was okay. So one of the mechanics went out with me on a test drive and explained what he personally did to the rotors and how it was fixed now. I told him I was about to leave for a mountain trip with my two kids (totally true by the way) and how I really needed to feel like my brakes were done correctly and that we would be safe. He assured me the work was done well and that he had kids and understood where I was coming from and said he was sure everything was good to go.Fast forward a few months: mountain trip complete, brakes no longer making noise, home safe and sound, no issues since.On said mountain trip, a squirrel got into my car (for 3 plus days) and did lots of electrical wiring damage. Too long of a story for a Yelp review, but in the end, my car ended up back at Santa Monica Motors. Don remained unfazed as I explained the situation and warned him that the squirrel may still be in the car somewhere. He said he would take care of it.Fast forward: squirrel gone, electrical wiring fixed, now overly anxious about rodents getting trapped in car.Don and his team of mechanics are the real deal. I trust them with my car. Trust and car are two words that rarely go together when describing car mechanics. But for this business, it works.

Raymond was terrific - cheerful and grasped what the car needed right away. The service techs are the same people for years and I trust them and like all of them. Every 3 months, I take my Honda to SM Motors.
